The gilded wooden frame with a French profile, which perfectly matches the style, is a free addition. The frame has some minor signs of wear, cracks, and chips (see photos), which may not be as noticeable from a distance. Nevertheless, it would be advisable to replace the frame!

Worth knowing:
The painting is very likely by Felix Ehrlich (September 1, 1866 in Berlin - March 28, 1931 in Berlin). Apart from the signature on the lower left, however, this cannot be unequivocally proven. Ehrlich studied painting from 1883 at the Königsberg Art Academy with Carl Steffeck and became his master student in 1888. Back in Berlin, he was appointed court painter in 1896. In the same year, he married Bertha Homoth. Felix Ehrlich portrayed Otto von Bismarck as well as Emperor Wilhelm II and his consort, the Crown Prince and Princess, and many high officials and officers. Based on photographs by court photographers (including Reichard & Lindner, Thomas Heinrich Voigt), he created about sixty oil portraits of the Emperor in various uniforms. Portraits of the monarch as Grand Admiral preserved in museum collections show a moderate influence of Impressionism in their coloration and brushwork. At least three portraits of Wilhelm II in field grey uniform were widely circulated as color reproductions on postcards during the First World War. Ehrlich also worked as a genre painter. He also painted animal pieces, religious and historical portraits.
