Interesting facts:
Ferdinand Marinus (August 20, 1808 in Antwerp – July 6, 1890 in Namur) was a significant Belgian landscape painter, known primarily for his romantic and atmospheric depictions. He loved the interplay of light and shadow, which can be clearly seen in the golden glow on the roof of the house in the painting offered here. He often exhibited abroad, and his works frequently depicted motifs of rural life in Belgium (especially the Meuse Valley) and the Netherlands. Marinus was a master at capturing the "mood." The almost bare branches of the tree suggest late autumn or early spring. The focus is not only on the work itself but on the unity of man, animal, and architecture in nature. Many of his works are now in the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Namur or in private collections throughout Europe. More detailed information about the artist can also be found, for example, on Wikipedia.

"Art is only created in the eyes and hearts of the respective viewers. For it is not the inspiration, the creative, the creativity, or the impulsiveness of the artist that truly reaches them, but solely what they see, sense, feel, or wish to invent at the sight."
